The FV430 series was developed in the late 1950's by Sankey (now Alvis Vehicles) with first deliveries in 1963. 3000 were built by the time production ceased in 1972. The basic chassis proved very versatile with a number of varients developed - the FV433 Abbott Self-Propelled Gun and the FV434 Engineering Vehicle being the most notable.
Steered by two control levers and with an automatic gearbox, the FV432 is a favourite of many people, soldiers and customers alike. The most important piece of equipment when in service with the armed forces is the boiling vessel which is fitted inside the rear access door, ready to provide instant support to troops in the form of tea and coffee!
The Warrior MCV was designed to replace the aging FV432 but the FV432 has proved so useful to the British Army that it has been upgraded and renamed the 'Bulldog' with new engine and transmision and additional armour. The Bulldog is currently on active service in Afganistan and Iraq.
